Public Affairs & Donor Engagement Officer


**This is a volunteer (unpaid) position.**

Position Summary:

We’re looking for a dynamic and creative Public Affairs & Donor Engagement Officer to join our team. This role is responsible for crafting compelling content that reflects our mission, managing press communications, nurturing relationships with our donors, and ensuring a positive public image for the foundation.

This is a key role for someone who loves both people and storytelling, and who understands how strong communications and donor care drive impact in the nonprofit world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and publish engaging monthly articles, newsletters, and blog posts that highlight the organization’s impact, stories, and events.

  • Develop and distribute press releases, media advisories, and statements to promote the foundation’s work.

  • Support the development of marketing and outreach materials in collaboration with the team.

  • Maintain consistency in brand voice and message across all channels.

Donor Relations:

  • Manage donor communications, including thank-you letters, updates, and stewardship campaigns.

  • Assist in planning and executing donor appreciation initiatives and events.

  • Maintain the donor database and ensure accurate and timely correspondence.

  • Help identify and implement strategies to retain and grow donor support.

Public Relations & Reputation:

  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to the foundation.

  • Collaborate on social media strategies that enhance visibility and trust.

  • Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries and assist with interviews or speaking opportunities.

  • Help manage crisis communications, if needed, to protect the foundation’s reputation.

Term Limit:

6 - 12 months 

Hours:

  • Weekly Meetings

  • Asynchronous work throughout the week

  • Average 2 hours per week
